We ultimately found that the existing showcase-style prototype platform was not aligned with customers' greatest needs (i.e. managing scheduling, contracts, and payments), and so we recommended one of two courses:
- Make major alterations to the platform to incorporate high-value scheduling and coordination features, or
- Pivot to tailor the existing platform to a new target group of event hosts (e.g. brides), who were more attracted to existing features like portfolio viewing and searching
My personal contributions to the project included:
- Leading all client communications and meetings
- Interviewing event planners in order to understand their most pressing day-to-day needs
- Mapping the elements of the client's business model in order to recommend solutions for key uncertainties
- Authoring and editing the final report book
- Presenting final recommendations to the client, along with my team
