We began with the question: What is the future of money? Zeroing in on young adults, we uncovered a key insight: for those just gaining financial independence, resources are limited while spending money is as easy as a single online click. In order to empower these individuals to set and meet achievable savings goal, we developed a concept for Buckkit: an in-browser tool that enables users to set spending goals and track them in real time while browsing retail sites.

What are young adults' financial experiences?
  • Spending money is increasingly quick, automated, and easy
  • Young adults who are just gaining financial independence often struggle to make ends meet
  • Enjoying life today is important, but young adults worry that it will catch up with them, especially since it's so easy to click and buy online

How might we empower this generation to set achievable saving goals and keep track of them while shopping?

Our concept, Buckkit, is a in-browser tool that enables users to set spending goals and track them in real time while browsing retail sites. It does so by:
  1. Linking to users' bank information
  2. Helping them to establish savings goals
  3. Notifying them if they are at risk of outspending their goals
  4. Helping them to make an informed decision about whether to buy that new pair of shoes now or to save for that beach trip next summer
